जो स्वतः जीवनस्वरूप आहे, तो प्राणः. सर्वांच्या श्वासोच्छवासात, हालचालीत आणि जिवंतपणात त्याचीच चेतना कार्यरत असते. जीवनाचे मर्म आणि अस्तित्वाची धडधड म्हणजे प्राण.
