He is not merely happy — He is *Ananda* (divine bliss) itself. His inner state is one of eternal, unchanging, self-sufficient joy that needs nothing external to complete it. **Spiritual Interpretation<br> The Taittiriya Upanishad (2.5): *"He who knows Brahman as real (*Satyam*), as knowledge (*Jnanam*), and as infinite (*Anantam*) — he attains all desires."* This *Brahma-Ananda* is the inner Nanda of Vishnu — the bliss that is His very being. The Bhagavad Gita's vision of the *sthita-prajna* (one of steady wisdom) who is *Aatmaraama* (delighting in the Self alone) is the human approximation of Vishnu's eternal Nanda-state. **Puranic Reference<br> Nanda is also the name of Krishna's beloved foster father — the chief of the cowherds in Vrindavana — and the affectionate connection between the name and the divine child (Krishna/Vishnu) is one of the most tender relationships in the entire Bhagavata Purana.
