GPSG-10DL
Silver Ion Glass Antimicrobial
A high-performance silver ion glass antimicrobial additive — Ag permanently embedded in a chemically stable borosilicate glass matrix for controlled, long-lasting Ag⁺ release. For plastics, coatings, sealants & construction materials. Stable to 300°C. Non-hazardous.
GPSG-10DL — Silver Ion Glass Antimicrobial Additive
GPSG-10DL uses a borosilicate glass carrier — not zeolite — to permanently embed and release silver ions. This makes it chemically distinct from GPZ-10N and GPZ-10D, with a different release profile, density, and processing profile suited to plastics, coatings, sealants and construction materials.
Silver Locked in Glass — Released Over Time GPSG-10DL is a high-performance silver glass–based antimicrobial additive supplied as a free-flowing off-white powder. The active silver component is permanently embedded within a chemically stable amorphous borosilicate glass matrix — not a crystalline zeolite. This glass structure enables a stable, controlled release of silver ions (Ag⁺) over the service life of the treated product. The result is a long-lasting antimicrobial effect that inhibits bacteria, fungi, mold, and mildew on surfaces — even in humid and microbe-prone environments — without depleting quickly like soluble silver salts or organic biocides that wash out over time.
Inorganic, Non-Leaching — Safe for Industrial Use Unlike conventional organic biocides that volatilise, degrade under UV light, or leach out of formulations during use, GPSG-10DL offers non-leaching performance, low volatility, and excellent chemical inertness. The silver ions are anchored within the glass network and release gradually in response to moisture contact — protecting the surface continuously without releasing harmful levels of silver into the surrounding environment. This makes it suitable for long-life industrial products where material integrity and regulatory safety are both priorities.
Stable to 300°C — Works Through Polymer Processing GPSG-10DL maintains its antimicrobial efficacy through standard polymer compounding and coating curing processes at temperatures up to 300°C. While this is lower than zeolite grades, it covers the full range of PVC, PE, PP, and standard engineering plastic processing conditions — as well as waterborne and solvent-borne coating cure cycles. Its amorphous glass structure remains intact during melt compounding, injection moulding at typical processing temperatures, and coating baking conditions below 300°C.
Broad Material Compatibility — Plastics, Coatings, Sealants, Construction GPSG-10DL is engineered for versatility across four major material systems: plastics and polymer compounds (PVC, PE, PP, engineering resins), water-borne and solvent-borne coatings (industrial topcoats, stone coatings, protective sealers), construction materials (tile grouts, putty systems, polymer-modified mortars, boards and panels), and sealants and adhesives (acrylic and hybrid sealant systems). Add during compounding for plastics, or pre-disperse with wetting agents in coating and sealant systems. Starting dosage: 0.2–1.0%, with up to 2.0% in high-risk or high-exposure environments.

Where GPSG-10DL Delivers Lasting Protection
GPSG-10DL's amorphous silver glass technology is purpose-built for four industrial material systems — plastics, coatings, construction chemicals, and sealants — where long-service antimicrobial protection, not short-term surface treatment, is the requirement.
Plastics & Polymers
Antimicrobial Additive for Plastics, Films & Polymer Compounds
Compounding Stage
GPSG-10DL is incorporated into polymer compounds during the compounding or masterbatch stage for best dispersion throughout the melt matrix. It is compatible with PVC, PE, PP, and standard engineering plastics at typical melt processing temperatures (up to 300°C). Add at 0.2–1.0% starting dosage and increase to 0.5–2.0% for higher-risk applications. Always run compatibility and dispersion trials before full-scale production — a jar test or pilot compound is recommended to confirm shade impact and processability.
PVC Profiles & Sheets
Window profiles, wall cladding, pipe fittings — antimicrobial in high-humidity building environments.
PE / PP Films & Components
Food packaging films, PE pipes, household product housings — mold and bacteria resistance built in.
Engineering Plastic Parts
Moulded components, handles, enclosures — durable antimicrobial after compatibility verification.
Coatings & Sealers
Silver Ion Glass for Industrial Coatings, Stone Coatings & Protective Sealers
GPSG-10DL can be incorporated into water-borne and solvent-borne industrial coatings where non-medical antibacterial and antifungal claims are needed. For coatings, pre-disperse with a suitable wetting or dispersing agent before adding to the main formulation — this ensures uniform distribution and prevents settling of the glass powder in liquid systems. Particularly suited to stone coatings, protective topcoats, and surface sealers applied to building facades, floors, and industrial equipment.
Stone & Masonry Coatings
Anti-algae and anti-mold protection on natural stone, concrete, and brick — resists microbial staining.
Industrial Protective Coatings
Epoxy floor coatings, anti-corrosion topcoats, equipment housings — microbial protection in plant environments.
Surface Sealers & Varnishes
Clear and pigmented sealers for flooring, wood, and high-touch surfaces in commercial environments.
Construction Materials
Antimicrobial for Tile Grouts, Mortars, Boards & Building Panels
Construction materials face constant microbial pressure — moisture, organic substrates, and poor ventilation combine to create ideal conditions for mold, mildew, and bacterial colonisation. GPSG-10DL is incorporated into tile grout and putty systems, polymer-modified mortars, structural boards, and building panels to deliver lasting in-built antimicrobial protection. Its inorganic glass matrix ensures it does not degrade under alkaline cementitious conditions that would destroy organic biocides.
Tile Grouts & Putty Systems
Prevents black mold in bathroom and kitchen grout — lasting hygiene at joints in wet-area applications.
Polymer-Modified Mortars
Tile adhesives, repair mortars, self-levelling screeds — antimicrobial built into the bonding layer.
Boards, Panels & Composites
Gypsum boards, fibre cement panels, and composite building materials — anti-mold in moisture-prone zones.
Sealants & Adhesives
Silver Ion Glass in Acrylic & Hybrid Sealant Systems
GPSG-10DL is suitable for acrylic and hybrid sealant formulations that require microbial resistance in joints, seams, and gaps in wet areas, facades, and industrial environments. The glass powder blends into sealant compounds without significantly affecting the elastic properties or cure rate. It provides long-service antimicrobial protection throughout the sealant's working life — reducing mold growth at sealed joints without the need for surface biocide application after installation.
Sanitary & Bathroom Sealants
Acrylic and silicone-hybrid sealants for wet rooms — prevents black mold at shower, bath, and sink joints.
Facade & Expansion Joint Sealants
External building joints — anti-algae and anti-mold protection at façade seams in humid climates.
Industrial Sealing Systems
Food-plant and pharmaceutical facility joint sealants — antimicrobial compliance in hygiene-critical zones.
Incorporation Guidance
1
Plastics — compounding stage. Add during masterbatch or compounding. Best dispersion is achieved at melt processing stage rather than dry blending before extrusion.
2
Coatings — pre-disperse first. Pre-disperse GPSG-10DL with suitable wetting/dispersing agents before adding to the main coating batch to avoid settling and agglomeration.
3
Keep moisture-free. Avoid excessive moisture pickup during handling. Keep containers tightly closed. Store in original sealed container in cool, dry conditions.
4
Always run a lab trial first. Conduct a jar test or lab-scale trial to confirm viscosity impact, shade, dispersion stability, and antimicrobial performance before full-scale production.

Long-Lasting Antimicrobial Performance
Controlled silver ion release from the glass matrix ensures continuous antibacterial and antifungal protection throughout the product's service life — not a short-lived burst at initial production.
Broad-Spectrum Activity
Effective against a wide range of bacteria and fungi — grade-dependent efficacy covers common pathogens and spoilage organisms including mold, mildew, and odour-causing microbes.
High Thermal Stability for Polymer Processing
Stable up to 300°C — suitable for PVC, PE, PP, and standard engineering plastic compounding, extrusion, and injection moulding processes without loss of antimicrobial activity.
Reduces Mold, Mildew Staining & Odour
Inhibits microbial-induced surface staining, discolouration, and odour development — particularly valuable in construction materials, sealants, and polymer products in humid environments.
Low Volatility — Long-Term Retention
Silver permanently anchored within the glass network does not evaporate, migrate, or volatilise under normal use conditions — ensuring reliable, measurable protection over the full product lifetime.
Built for Industrial Material Protection
Designed specifically for industrial applications in plastics, coatings, construction chemicals, and sealants — not a consumer surface treatment, but a durable in-built solution.
Alkali-Stable in Cementitious Systems
Unlike organic biocides that degrade rapidly in high-pH mortar and grout environments, the inorganic glass matrix resists alkaline conditions — maintaining efficacy in cement-based construction materials.
Non-Leaching Performance
Silver ions release at a controlled rate from within the glass structure — not freely leaching. This prevents rapid depletion and ensures the antimicrobial effect is sustained rather than consumed at the surface.
Inorganic — No Organic Residues
No VOCs, no organic breakdown products, no reactive intermediates. GPSG-10DL is a purely inorganic antimicrobial system — compatible with formulations where organic biocide restrictions apply.
Wide System Compatibility
Compatible with PVC, PE, PP, engineering resins, waterborne and solvent-borne coatings, acrylic and hybrid sealants, tile grouts, polymer mortars, and composite building boards.
