A technical distinction worth keeping straight: thermal insulation aims to slow heat flow, while thermal management aims to move heat away from a hot component. Hollow glass or ceramic microspheres are generally the choice for insulation and lightweighting; Hexagonal Boron Nitride is selected where thermal conductivity and electrical insulation are both required.

Buoyancy & Marine Flotation
The same closed, gas-filled microsphere technology that lightens a coating or a panel is the standard low-density filler behind syntactic foam — the engineered material that keeps subsea equipment afloat under pressure. Grade selection is driven by hydrostatic depth rating and required buoyancy factor.
Subsea Buoyancy Modules
High-strength Glass Bubbles (S28HS, iM16K, iM30K grades) form the core low-density filler in syntactic foam, engineered against a target hydrostatic depth rating.
ROV & AUV Flotation Packages
High-strength Glass Bubbles with adhesion promoters give lightweight, pressure-resistant flotation for underwater vehicles and instrumentation packages.
Marine Mooring & Offshore Flotation
Glass Bubbles and ceramic microspheres reduce density in syntactic foam blocks and coatings for buoys, floats and riser buoyancy sections.

3M Hollow Glass Microspheres
Closed, thin-walled glass particles containing gas — low density and internal void structure for thermal-barrier coatings, syntactic compounds and buoyancy systems. K15 for lightest processing; S-series and iM16K/iM30K for higher strength.
GEOSPHERES Ceramic Microspheres
Better hardness and temperature resistance than low-strength hollow fillers — used in thermal-barrier and texture coatings, acoustic compounds and lightweight cementitious systems.
Milled Glass Fibres
Reinforces insulation boards, acoustic panels and polymer compounds — controlling shrinkage and cracking while improving tensile strength and dimensional stability.
Wetting & Dispersion Additives
Promotes uniform distribution of microspheres and mineral fillers while controlling viscosity and surface defects.
Silicone-Free / Polymeric Defoamers
Reduces entrapped air and foam in waterborne insulation coatings, adhesives and panel binders — preventing voids in cured film.
Adhesion Promoters
Improves bonding to concrete, metal, glass, fibre-cement, aluminium and selected polymer surfaces across insulation and acoustic systems.
