Primary Strength Thick Film De-aeration
✓ Outstanding Air Release for Thick-Film & High-Solids Systems

Key Performance Benefits

  • Thick Film De-aeration
Rapidly releases entrapped air pockets from thick coating films (>1 mm) before resin gelation, producing smoother and more uniform finishes.
  • Thermoset Versatility
Delivers outstanding performance across 2K solvent-free epoxy, polyurethane, and unsaturated polyester (UPR) gelcoat formulations.
  • Sub-surface Void Reduction
Eliminates micro-cavities and entrapped air that can reduce mechanical strength, durability, and barrier performance.
  • Smooth Film Profile
Produces flat, defect-free leveling in heavily filled self-smoothing floorings, screeds, and high-build coating systems.

Recommended Applications

  • Epoxy Floor Systems
Self-leveling 2K epoxy toppings, industrial floor coatings, and epoxy mortar systems.
  • UPR & Gelcoats
Unsaturated polyester laminating resins, gelcoat formulations, and fiberglass composite applications.
  • Polyurethane Resins
Solvent-free elastomeric toppings, potting and encapsulation compounds, and polyurethane sealers.
  • High-Build Coatings
Thick protective linings, anticorrosive coatings, storage tank linings, and barrier coating systems.

Dosage & Processing Guidelines

The recommended addition level for FOAMSTAB 2772 is 0.1% to 0.8% calculated on the total formulation weight.

  • Grind Phase
Pre-blend 50–60% into Resin Component A during high-shear filler incorporation for effective initial de-aeration.
  • Let-down / Final Blend
Add the remaining dosage before curing agent incorporation to maximize air release and bubble extraction.
  • Polyester Systems
Incorporate before initiator and promoter dosing to achieve optimum de-aeration performance in polyester formulations.

💡 Formulator Insight & Lab Tip

In thick self-leveling epoxy coatings and UPR gelcoats, air bubbles become trapped as viscosity increases during cure. FOAMSTAB 2772 reduces interfacial surface tension at the gas-liquid boundary, forcing microfoam to migrate to the film surface rapidly and break without leaving craters or fisheyes.
